I had a very good experience learning remotely online via Teams. Up until recently I had some objections to online training. In fact, I had even turned down some training offers in the past because they were not classroom-based. I have to admit was completely misguided as they are as good as being classroom-based, which are very rare nowadays. This remote training worked well for me, and I have done both the self-paced and live sessions with OCT.

The course significantly augmented my Azure AD Connect skills and filled in the gaps surrounding design/support scenarios along with providing a very comprehensive deep dive. The course is filled with tons of helpful tips, references, examples, demos, and labs.
In many ways learning online, self-paced was better than an in-person class, because I could review modules as I needed to as well as slow my pace during labs – thus achieving better retention. There was zero impact to my scheduled meetings, and work provided for a fluid progression of learning without scheduling conflicts which allowed for a flexible and relaxed timetable.

For me it was a very interesting deep dive in everything happening under the cover of Azure Active Directory. As a Platform Engineer we facilitate application teams to consume all kinds of authentication flows and it was very helpful to actually see and understand how this works. We do not often get hands-on with application flows. The magic in the cloud explained so to say.
The level of detail that is explained during the course was really great. It feels a bit like: for my job I’ve been moving boxes around for a while, and finally I got to see what’s inside the boxes. It will definitely help with understanding the bigger picture of what is happening, and we also learned to use some concrete troubleshooting tools.
The content was really good – so much information each day! I liked the camera on/off way off working, as with the camera off at all times I tend to get even more easily distracted.

Attending training remotely online is the future for technology training. The students don’t have the overhead of travel, and out-of-their-environment, giving them the ability to focus on the course, and not be distracted about travel. Highly recommend. I believe this is the “go to” future for training. This course was covered extremely well, and I don’t believe it could have been improved upon.
Excellent presentation of the concepts and reinforcement of core principles throughout the course. The instructor was always helpful and answered all questions. The labs were very good.
Both the course content and the instructor were very good. The way the labs and lectures were constructed made sure that we were glued to the contents every day! Attending the training remotely was great. The Teams call was seamless, and we didn’t have a single glitch for all those hours.
We had a private custom course in Azure AD and Azure AD Connect. Both the course material and, more importantly the instructor, Paul, made it easy to stay engaged. The labs were excellent and made it easy to learn and understand Azure AD Connect and Azure AD administration.
I am an app developer to support MIM. I use ECMA and I found that the instructor is very experienced in this and the course is informative. It gives extensive coverage of what MIM can do. It is a great exposure to me.

The course was excellent. Nice deep dive into authentication methods and use with Azure AD. Learned some valuable troubleshooting methods for app authentication. I liked that it was a private course – just people from the same company. Several of them I have worked with on projects before, with and that made it easier to discuss items in terms of projects we may be working on. The course was great and having the hands-on labs really helped to understand the material being presented. Learning by Zoom worked great. I am used to working from home and using collaboration tools, so this was like a regular day for me!
It is a great course. I learned the hidden features of the identity platform. I learned many new things through detailed labs, and John is really knowledgeable and guided us to learn well. During the pandemic, learning through Zoom is the best way one can learn. It worked really well and it was great to meet colleagues in the same company from different geographies and get acquainted with them.

I have some years of experience with MIM, through installs to administration to even provisioning, but I decided to opt for the foundation course to help me better understand how to mitigate bad data. I’m happy to report that I learned far more than I thought I would, and developed the skills to manage exactly what I was hoping to learn more about. Paul is an excellent instructor and with his extensive knowledge and passion for MIM, paired with the intuitive labs, I was able to absorb a ton of great knowledge on MIM in only a matter of 4 days.The remote learning experience, via Teams, worked perfectly for me, even better than in person.
An intense, in-depth course. Paul the instructor knows the content inside-out and provides excellent examples and explanations of every element of MIM covered. Personally, I prefer in-classroom learning, but due to the pandemic situation I appreciate that it is not possible. All the content was thorough and well explained.
Excellent. The course was really well laid out, with a few modules each day. The VMs worked really well and it was good to have the snapshots for each point in the course. The PDFs were well written and easy to follow along with. Paul (our instructor) was well spoken, enthusiastic and happy to help with any questions.I didn’t mind learning via Teams as we could still see Paul via his webcam and he was sharing his screen. We could also use the chat feature and put our hands up or thumbs up about stuff, etc. It was good to learn with a colleague on the same course, as we could speak to each other or ask questions about MIM specific to our organization.

I found the course great. It provided clear and concise information while letting me have a hands-on approach with the use of the VMs. Learning online self-paced worked well for me as most of the time I studied this course outside of work hours. It allowed me to go back to previous modules that I needed to work on more. As MIM can get quite complicated with many “moving parts” at times, the images created to explain certain processes and information were incredibly helpful.
The course was logically organized for real-world examples, and insights from the instructor, Paul, made that more applicable to our environments. Paul was always available for questions and assistance in the labs with clear and concise explanations for whatever arose in the class. Learning remotely was seamless and there were no distractions of a in-person class. This allowed focused concentration.

I really liked the structure of the course. I liked to watch the lessons in 1.25 speed which worked pretty good. When I was enrolled in the course I was afraid of not learning due to language, but the instructor Paul was generous and patiently explained. After a year of pandemic, studying remotely via Teams works well.

The content of this course far exceeds that of the official documentation, and the labs demonstrate the content. Paul’s ad-hoc diagrams are gems!!! Can we get Paul’s diagrams published formally?! The course worked well remotely via Teams. Using Azure VMs also helps so no VPN usage – big bonus.

Very pleased with course. As someone who hadn’t even heard of MIM several weeks ago, I feel like I now know my way around enough to begin learning more how MIM at my company is implemented. The self-paced learning was particularly beneficial to someone like myself with no background. I was able to read through each lesson prior to listening to it, and then re-play sections as needed.

Instructor is extremely knowledgeable in course content (and beyond) and is able to take student real-world questions and answer questions and demonstrate solutions. Very much impressed with course labs. Labs challenge without spoon-feeding you every little step. They give you a chance to think about the answers and apply what you have learned. Also appreciated not wasting time, with extended lunches or quitting early. Really got our money’s worth.

This class was very well-handled. The small size and interactivity makes it easier to follow along and interact with the class. Usually online training is just power points, large numbers of users with unmuted lines and nothing but talking avatars.
I like the labs and I like having the ability to setup our own after class, even if just for a baseline reference when troubleshooting more complicated real world scenarios. I suspect I can look back in my lab and see what I need to find when troubleshooting.
Everyone is different, and for me the online class in this format works much better than having to travel. And it’s opportunity to train more of my team, because if we had travel we probably would only have had one engineer attend.
The course was great. It connected several gaps that I had in my knowledge of OAuth2 and OIDC. Also very insightful for the AD Connect and Azure piece as I do not manage that area. The course exceeded my expectations, very helpful.

John is very knowledgeable in the subjects he undertakes. I have to admit that this course was the most in-depth I’ve ever attended. Sometimes way deeper than I ever imagined but somehow John manages to keep it simple to understand.
The course is fast-paced as there is a lot of material to cover, but the instructor, Paul, has been exemplary in tackling this challenge and successfully explained the underlining flows of information, showed practical examples and assisted with lab materials when required. I managed to understand and learn all the points which I had targeted at the beginning of the course. The experience of learning remotely by Teams was good.
Learning online, self-paced was a good experience as it allowed me to attend a course most of the time, but not be completely offline. The content of the lessons is explained in a very good way without the need of reading too much in the manual.

I can’t recommend Paul highly enough as an instructor. He has an incredible grasp on the more complicated concepts in the product, and his experience shows in his delivery of the information. I don’t think there’s any one concept that I didn’t understand how to use as an expert would.

The online course was excellent and allowed me to stop when needed to review topics more in-depth and do the labs at my pace.
In my roughly 20+ years in the IT industry, this was by far the best class I have taken. Typically, a lot of classes marked as “advanced” in any way, don’t always meet everyone’s expectations. The level of detail on everything was fantastic, and all of the material being kept up to date to even include recent preview features was greatly appreciated. The labs were all set up in a way that you were given enough information to succeed, but you had to actively engage to complete them. This by far helps with retention in learning new information.
Not only did the class meet my expectations in content provided, it far exceeded it.

The self-paced online Azure AD Connect Masterclass is a really great option for those who cannot spare the time to attend a traditional classroom style course. I have been dipping in and out of the course material for the last few months now and re-capping on certain aspects of the course.
The great thing about this option is it saved me from having to rely on using my own personal notes. The course content was spot on and a great eye opener into the mechanics behind how the AAD Connect tool works. Anyone who uses this tool would benefit from this course.
Lastly, there were two instructors who delivered the content. Both were very knowledgeable on their subject areas. I will look forward to seeing some of the new material that OCT release!

It was very convenient to learn live by Teams and to not need to worry about traveling (true at any time, but especially now, of course). There were adequate breaks and the pace of the course worked well.

The MIM Advanced course provides great information on how to further configure MIM using either the MIM portal or the MIM service. Both of these are very beneficial to my new position since we will be working on enhancing and maintaining our MIM services.

When I come back to the office we are going to start implementing MIM, and in this Foundation course you get more about the configuration, the MAs, and the rules you want to apply. I would recommend this course.
We have an implementation of MIM. The people who look after it at the moment have very little knowledge. We sort of click here and click there and hope we’re doing the right thing. I’ve really picked up a lot this week.
